Pay People What Their Work is Worth… and share a haiku or two

What would you change about modern society?

Spread the money and don’t keep it at the top. The wealth wouldn’t be in the hands of a few. More people could share in the wealth in this country and the wealth of the world. Inequality exists all over the world. (I had writer’s block so I asked my loved one of his answer and that’s what I wrote)

Ok now that the mental juices are flowing, something I would change is more love, more love, more love. More love of others including the self. Approval, kindness, gentleness, patience, and compassion for others as they have approval, kindness, gentleness, patience, and compassion for you. This is likely a pie in the sky idea though. We’re imperfect humans each with an ego, large and small, but still there. This is likely something that would be needed in ancient society, I guess whenever “society” started more love would be the change.

Anyway, readers, I hope you have a great day! It’s Monday and I’m a lover of Mondays. I know each day is one we can start over but Monday has a special feel to me of a new beginning, therefore, I begin (again) in my pursuit of the practice of writing.

Oh! Which reminds me, there is an amaaaaazing poetry workshop available online called Revisionary Arts where poetry is used as medicine. Healing is what I experience every single time I attend. It’s held once a month on whatever Saturday this weekend was and the info can be found on Facebook.

The exercise this month was to first list places, things, people where I find peace then the second portion was to be that. I came up with two haiku (is it haiku or haikus for multiple?). So first here bit of background and random yet connected thoughts.

I have been on this breast cancer journey for over a month now. There is darkness and light throughout just as everyone experiences that in their life. In the poetry practice, we read a poem that led us to link the positive and negative.

In Hermetic thought that I’ve been reading on, it explains that duality is the same thing. Like we may think of them as opposites but for instance day and night, still parts of the same thing. So that got me thinking that linking the positive and negative can be a good practice.

Anyway, back to breast cancer and the recovery after chemo, after radiation, after surgery upon surgery…these are times of forced physical stillness for me which as I’m also known as a hummingbird, I find very difficult emotionally and mentally to stay still but I have learned it is necessary. Rest and recovery is necessary. I don’t need to feel guilty if I’m not doing something productive. That’s also why in this dark half of the year I’m leaning into more “beingness” instead of “doingness”.

In my states of recuperation where I can’t do much physically, I have increased my already present love of jigsaw puzzles. It’s such a meditative act for me. Here is the first haiku about the gift it brings.

Peace in the Pieces

Following this was the immersion into what gives us peace so I continued capturing the moment and gift in haiku and how it reflects this journey and connection of positive, negative, dark, light…

Broken on purpose

Colorful in all fragments

Kaleidoscope bliss

Thank you, readers, for sticking through all of these thoughts and poetry. May you continue to write, read, share, enjoy, and receive many, many gifts from all of your experiences. Sending much love to you!
