a new day

heartbreak can be spiny and pokey
like a cactus growing wild in the desert
a saguaro
at the core inside 
there is more life
nourishing and thirst quenching

for the heart, it’s a life lesson
learning how to open these
painful pokey spiny experiences
the process of cleaning out wounds
to allow and accept healing
by going through it, not around it

this puts unbearable things
in all the healthy brain places
triggers from trauma start to fade
and what’s left is space
to fill with life again
like a nest for beauty and rebirth
