Frog

Hi All! My poem, Frog, was inspired by my fly-fishing husband who found a frog the other day and well, no spoiler alerts here… I hope you enjoy.

PS the backstory about the golf ball and La Jolla has to do with my widowhood and knowing that it was time to love again. Maybe I’ll write about that scene someday.

FROG
he found a frog
the other day
at the neighborhood
pond
but he didn’t kiss it
he left it there
to be kissed by another
who needed their prince
or princess
because well that’s what happened
how our story began
eleven years ago, he did kiss a frog
a cute little green slimy thing
it was playing with a golf ball
in the tide pools of la jolla
and even though i remain a frog
we still live happily ever after
over and over again
